Dr. Barney is board certified by the American Board of Urology and has a special interest in BPH– and overactive bladder-related voiding dysfunction as well as erectile dysfunction.

Originally from Sheridan, Wyoming, Dr. Barney graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then received his medical degree from FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.

He completed a general surgery internship at Brooke Army Medical Center and a urology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. Dr. Barney is an army veteran of 12 years who served as a major in the 286th Medical Detachment of the 32nd Hospital Center.

Although he is not a Texas native, Dr. Barney has spent more time in the state than most and plans to make San Antonio his permanent home.

Languages & Personal Interests

Dr. Barney is fluent in Spanish and enjoys Puerto Rican cuisine prepared by his mother-in-law. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and five children, including activities such as hiking, camping, swimming, and attending church.
