Professional Summary

Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Ian Thompson III has called San Antonio home for most of his life. He is a graduate of Keystone School and completed his undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University. He returned to San Antonio for medical school at UTHSCSA.

Dr. Thompson completed his general surgery and urologic surgery training at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, and then returned to San Antonio to complete a fellowship in urologic oncology at UTHSCSA. He subsequently served as an Assistant Professor in Urologic Oncology at UTHSCSA before founding his private practice, Texas Urology Group.

Dr. Thompson’s primary focus is on providing compassionate, quality care to all of his patients.

Personal Life & Interests

Outside of clinical medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family. Dr. Thompson is a member of First Baptist Church San Antonio (fbcsa.com) and extends an open invitation for anyone to join him for worship on Sunday mornings downtown or to watch live on TV, Channel 13 (ABC) at 11 am.
